Applications are invited for a Ph.D. student position in econometrics or statistics in the Econometrics and Statistics Group of the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel.
Tentative specializations include microeconometrics, income distribution and inequality measurement, stochastic orders in economics, or related areas of statistics. Other topics are possible. An interest in statistical computing is an advantage.
The starting date is flexible, and applications will be considered until the position is filled. Conditions are in accordance with the regulations of University of Basel. There is also the possibility to apply for the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students in Economics at the Study Center Gerzensee. The position entails a limited amount of teaching and teaching support at the B.A. or M.Sc. level. Besides a strong interest in econometric and statistical methodology and applications, candidates should have an excellent degree in econometrics, statistics, (quantitative) economics or a closely related field with a strong quantitative or analytical component, as well as some experience with a high-level statistical programming language (here we use R). Fluency in English is essential; in  addition, there is a preference for candidates with good oral and written skills in German.
