The School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh, is seeking to appoint a University Teacher. This is a fixed-term position (2 years, extension to 3 years possible), focusing mainly on teaching in Stochastic Analysis and Financial Mathematics, but with opportunities to take part in the research in our School or activities involving the financial sector in the region. The duties allocated will be dependent on the expertise of the appointee and will include delivering effective teaching to undergraduate, postgraduate and/or external programmes. The role will also include involvement in assessment of students, helping to develop courses and programmes where this is appropriate, and teaching related administration. It is expected that the postholder will engage with the research activities of the School relevant to them. The School takes career development seriously: we will mentor the postholder to develop key skills and experiences in teaching and learning.
A PhD in Mathematical Finance and/or Stochastic Analysis or closely related topic and experience of teaching is essential, as well as the ability to demonstrate effective team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 1st November 2018 at 5pm (GMT) and the post is available to start in December 2018 or January 2019.
Informal enquiries can be made by contacting: Professor Iain Gordon, the Head of School, email hosmaths@ed.ac.uk
