The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Professor in »Risk and Insurance« to begin at the earliest possible date. The position is a W2 fixed-term Tenure Track Assistant Professor position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor), a tenured W3 Associate Professor position or a tenured W3 Full Professor position.

The professorship is part of the TUM Department of Mathematics. Together with the science campus Garching as well as the Munich Region with several research groups and leading industry in insurance and finance, the department provides a stimulating research environment.

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the field of Risk and Insurance; the scientific profile should focus on the mathematical methodology in the area of risk in insurance and finance. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

We are looking for candidates with a university degree in mathematics and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching relevant to their career level in an internationally recognized scientific environment. We expect advanced scientific achievements and a proven ability to acquire third-party funding and to lead cooperative research projects. On Full Professor level we additionally expect an internationally recognized research program. Successful candidates show pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
