The Institute of Mathematics, University of Freiburg, invites applications for a Ph.D. position (TV-L E13, 75%) for 3 years with a possible extension up to 5 years.

The position will be embedded into the project ReScale – Responsible and Scalable Learning for Robots Assisting Humans which is funded by Carl-Zeiss-Striftung in its program scientific breakthroughs in artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will work on risk management under uncertainty in this program. The Department Mathematical Stochastics at Freiburg University offers attractive research opportunities and interesting connections to related fields like Statistics, Econometrics and Biomathematics.

The successful candidate will hold an excellent degree in Mathematics and has a sound knowledge on probability and stochastic processes.
