The Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure track faculty member at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August 2014. The focus of this search is in the area of stochastics/mathematical finance.

Several faculty members conduct research in stochastic analysis and statistics with application in mathematical finance, data science and other disciplines in science and engineering. We offer a very successful Master of Mathematical Finance in partnership with the Stuart School of Business, and we recently launched a Master of Data Science in partnership with the Department of Computer Science. The new position is expected to bolster our ongoing research and teaching in one or more of these areas.
The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must also have demonstrated the potential for outstanding, externally fundable research and be dedicated to excellent teaching.
With a very diverse student body of 7,800, IIT is a private, research university with programs in engineering, science, psychology, architecture, business, design and law. IIT is located in a city-park like campus in the heart of the vibrant city of Chicago.
